Steph Curry eager to get ‘confident, energetic’ Klay Thompson back

Steph eager to help Klay get over the hump in rehab process originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Steph Curry, the entire Warriors franchise, and pretty much the rest of the basketball world cannot wait until Klay Thompson makes his long-awaited return to the court this winter.

Beloved by so many, Thompson has missed the previous two seasons due to major leg injuries.

Currently, Klay is working hard in his rehab process, in an effort to rejoin the Warriors sometime in the first half of the season.

Fellow «Splash Brother» Steph Curry joined the broadcast during the Warriors’ Summer League matchup against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night to discuss Thompson’s rehab.

“I think Kevon Looney said it the other day, he’s confident, he’s energetic and he’s in a good space mentally knowing that this has been a long two years for him,» Curry said.

«We’re not going to keep reminding him how long it’s been, but he understands the work that’s ahead of him to come back to the Klay that we all know and love. I know that’s what his expectations are, so he’s putting in the work.”

Thompson, unable to play this past season, still made an impact on the team. On the sidelines and in the locker room for so many of the Warriors games, Klay still brought much-needed energy.

«It was great to have him around all year in the locker room, even though he wasn’t playing,» Curry said. «He brought that energy for us. Once we get back to training camp, it’ll be right at the end of his rehab process, so we can help get him over the hump and get him back out on the court.”

There is no official estimate as to when Thompson can return. Some within the Warriors organization have estimated possibly late November to either late December or even early January.

When Thompson does rejoin the team this upcoming season, it’ll provide a massive boost to a championship-hopeful Golden State team.
