We’re coming into Thursday following a 1-1 Wednesday with an Australia win or draw (+110) wager in the women’s soccer bronze medal game pending in the AM. Digging through all the competitions, we’re eyeing another close game in the women’s soccer finals and taking a stab at a future play in the women’s middleweight boxing division.

The women’s soccer gold medal game between Canada and Sweden will take place Thursday at 10 PM ET. The Canadians knocked off tournament favorites the USA in the semis while Sweden won a 3-1 game in the quarters followed by a much more disciplined 1-0 win over Australia in the semis.

Canada entered Tokyo at +6,000 odds to capture gold and those odds shrunk to +600 in the semis. They now sit at +175 to win the gold and +375 to do it full time. The Canadians had lost in the semi-finals in back-to-back Olympics but captured the bronze in Rio and London. The stage is not too big for this experienced team.

In the tournament, Canada is 2-0-3 and is comfortable playing in low-scoring, tight games. Its two wins in full time were by one goal and if the Canucks are to wear the gold, it likely won’t be by a blowout.

Sweden comes into the finals with a perfect 5-0-0 record and has scored more than one goal in four of those five games. Goals may not be easy to come by for the Swedes as Canada has conceded just three goals in the tournament while the books are also expecting this one to be a defensive battle as the Under 2.5 is paying -227.

Just like the bronze medal game, we feel there is plenty of value in taking the underdog or draw in this one. The last meeting at the 2019 Algarve Cup ended 0-0 after 120 minutes with Canada winning on penalties. It took the Canadian women over 20 years to beat the US and they won’t want that victory to be for naught.

Prediction: Canada or draw (-115)

Women’s middleweight boxing will have its semi-final bouts Friday at 1 AM ET. No.1 ranked Lauren Price from Great Britain will take on the No. 4 seeded Nouchka Fontijn from the Netherlands with the Welsh boxer the favorite to advance. Price is also the betting favorite to capture the gold and can be had as high as +100 on some books.

The 27-year-old Price has already won a gold at the 2018 Commonwealth games and the 2019 World Championships and is competing in her first Summer Olympics. The bright lights haven’t slowed the former soccer player down as Price has cruised to the semis and earned a 5-0 points win in the quarter-finals.

There is also a big rivalry between the two boxers as Fontijn beat Price in 2019 by a controversial decision that was later overturned and helped Price become the world’s women’s middleweight champion.

Price is just a superb athlete in general and is a former world champion kickboxer and national soccer player. Getting lines on the fight is not very easy but getting Price as high as +100 to win the gold is. In our mind, that’s the best bang for our buck if we’re going to wager on yet another successful Great Britain boxer.

Prediction: Lauren Price to win gold (+100)

– Women’s soccer — Canada or draw (-115)

– Women’s middleweight boxing Future — Lauren Price to win gold (+100)
