Report: Celtics among teams interested in Reggie Bullock originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The Boston Celtics covet size and shooting, and a player on their Atlantic Division rival checks both of those boxes.
Landing Bullock wouldn’t be easy: The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers also have interest in the 30-year-old forward, per Berman, who added Bullock’s «preference» is to re-sign with New York.
Boston likely would have to go over the salary cap to sign Bullock, as well: The C’s have a $5.9 million taxpayer midlevel exception, but the eight-year veteran is expected to command the full midlevel exception of $9.2 million per year, while the Knicks could sign Bullock to a deal north of $10 million annually since they have his Early-Bird rights.
Still, Bullock is an intriguing target for new Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound veteran is a career 39.2% 3-point shooter who hit 41% of his deep balls last season while averaging 10.9 points per game as a starter for a solid Knicks team.
If the C’s re-sign Evan Fournier, then Bullock might not be worth the cost. But if Fournier lands elsewhere, it’s certainly worth considering the UNC product.
