Kevin Durant gets fined $25,000 for throwing ball into stands

A moment where Nets star Kevin Durant’s emotions got the best of him has cost him $25k. In a game against the Indiana Pacers, the 33-year-old appeared to be upset at himself for the way he was playing. It seemed like it had to do with his turnover issue that night where he ended up finishing the game with a glaring seven turnovers.

In the third quarter around the four minute mark, a whistle was blown to stop play. Instead of stopping, Durant accidentally launched the ball into the stands when trying to throw it at the backboard. As a result, the league is now cracking down on the forward’s actions, fining him $25,000 for the gesture.

During the postgame press conference, Durant admitted, “I tried to hit it off the backboard, but I still shouldn’t have even done that. I don’t know what I was thinking, I thought I was at the gym by myself in a pick up game, not an NBA game. I can’t do that. I could have cost my team the game. It won’t happen again. I hope so.”
